Why Do Girls Want To Get Married So Soon?

Hey guys. My question is pretty straight forward. Theirs no wrong answer so feel free to chime in your opinions.

As for a little background information. I’m 22, in the military and have been following Dave Ramsey for a little over a year now. I’m completely debt free, so I’ve managed to save about $25,000 last year into various accounts. Needless to say, I love finances and economics.

So I’m mainly asking my question because I want to protect myself financially. A couple of years ago I would have enjoyed talking about kids and marriage relatively soon in the relationship. But I feel like I’ve got a completely different aspect on the whole family/marriage aspect ever since I’ve started saving some money.

Simply your priorities have changed. Your first thoughts about marriage, were mainly those dreams or fantasies, I suspect most girls have, from an early age, when they are playing with Ken and Barbie,
And what girl, from her early years, doesn’t dream about her wedding day, and what to wear and all the stuff that goes along with that ‘special day’,
The bride is always the center of attention, it’s “Her” day, and the Bridegroom, is, just one of the extras. at this event.
How many boys or guys, dream about their wedding day, Not to many, I’m willing to bet.
However, you have moved into reality and security and real life issues,
You have done well financially, so it’s important to you as it is to many, that the guy you marry, has the same solid financial footing as you do.
How often has some couple got married, only to find out later, that one of them has terrible credit rating, and has absolutely no idea, on how to handle their money,
Now you have something to lose, something you have worked hard to achieve. It’s not a fantasy anymore, it’s a reality.
So if you meet a guy, it won’t be with those rose colored glasses of love, that you see him through, but how steady and financially secure is he. Does he have a steady job, and future prospects etc.
As a woman, you are thinking of children and a home, and how to take care of both of those.

So it’s not surprising, you are seeing things from a completely different perspective.
At 22 years old, you are now an adult, with adults point of view.
There are savers and there are spenders, and it seems, at least from my own personal experience, me being a saver, and my sister, a spender. We both have been since childhood,
She spends her money, as if she had my assets, while I spend as if I had hers, lol
I too, when I was your age, planned for my retirement, and also now own my house, fully paid off, and only a small debt on a new car.
So you are well ahead of the game. I’m not sure, if the Military service, changes us, I served three years in the British Army, But it didn’t change my spending habits, Even on Army pay, I was able to save money, I don’t think it would have changed my sister’s spending habits any, lol
