how can i take a good picture of myself?
so i just have Canon 60d EFS 18-135 .. camera is not the problem
i just need my own picture for social websites … i’ve never uploaded my picture cuz i don’t pretty much like my pics…
could you give me some tips ?
Photography is all about light …
I’ll assume you don;t have any lighting gear.
I’d recommend taking your camera outside, find a nice place with some shade, bring a tripod, a stick with a bright sticker on it and a remote trigger (40$ for an infra red one).
1- Set the stick with the sticker in the ground where you will be standing. Make sure the bright sticker is at head height … you’ll be using that to frame and focus your shot.
2- Set your camera on a tripod and use the stiock to frame your shot.
3- Set the camera on delay with trigger or just delay if you don’t have a remote.
4a- If you don’t have a trigger, press the shutter release and run place yourself.
4b- If you have a trigger, go set yourself up in the right pose and then us e the remote trigger to trigger the camera.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
a- Don’t stare at the sun or have the sun straight in your face or you will be squinting.
b- Shoot in RAW or RAW + jpeg so you can better fix the picture later if you made a mistake (wrong white balance, exposure a bit off …)
c- Keep your shutter speed fast to reduce motion blur … outside on a well lit day should not be a problem.
d- Typical headshots are from shoulders up, and a good pose is with your body angled at 45 degrees
with the head turned to look straight at the camera … right into the lens.
e- If you have a reflector (or something reflective like a car window shade) use that on the ground to reflect a bit of light back under your face to lighten up the shadows.

f- Fill the frame with your face, don’t shoot wide and crop after.
