Panasonic bluray player flickers with netflix?
I got a panasonic blu ray player to stream netflix. Dmp bdt210. When streaming there is a black flicker on the screen. Not all the time but once or twice every few minutes. Called netflix and they say its a panasonic firmware issue. They told me to call panasonic. Has anyone had this problem? Can panasonic fix this firmware issue or should I just take it back and get a different model player?
It could be one or more of several issues actually. Yes it is possible that the system firmware needs to be updated, so you should check this from the Blu-ray players main menu. It could also be a latency problem or lag caused by your connection. Are you using a wired internet connection, or wi-fi? If possible, use a wired connection. This should improve it over a wi-fi connection.
Also, does your internet seem fast? Because you need a pretty decent connection to avoid any lag or buffering when streaming movies.
Try connecting to Netflix using a wired connection on your player and make sure that no other item (laptop/iPhone/etc) is connected to the internet. If it is still doing it after that, then you know your internet connection isn’t the problem, and it may very well be a problem related to the player itself (i.e. firmware, etc).
If you haven’t had it too long and you’ve tried all of this to no avail, then I would consider returning it and upgrading to a better unit.
