How do I replace my turntable needle/cartridge?
I have already looked at WikiHow, WikiAnswers, and eHow.com’s articles on removing the needle cartridge for a record player, and none have helped. All gave me the advice to slide the cartridge out. Mine is an Audio Technica needle and cartridge, and has shallow yet wide hooks that seem to clamp onto the upper part of the cartridge holder. I am unable to slide the cartridge at all, and I have already cleaned the area around the cartridge. Any advice would be appreciated.
You are trying to remove the stylus assembly (needle) from the cartridge body? If so, the Audio Technicas tend to pull straight off the bottom of the cartridge body or at a slight angle. They don’t slide out by pulling them forward like many other brands. If you know the model number of the cartridge, I could probably help more. But, pulling it down off the bottom of the cartridge body should work, All Audio Technicas are basically the same in that respect. Wiggling it a little while pulling may help…
Good luck! Hope you get it spinning! Let me know if I can help further.
