What are really good brand replacement acoustic strings for an acoustic/electric guitar?
I just purchased a Yamaha APX500 acoustic electric guitar with stock D’Addario strings. I’ve tried Elixir strings before on my old guitar, and I heard that they break a lot. I use pretty much standard gauged strings for any acoustic guitar.
Just in case a string breakage happens, I have some Martin SP’s on hand for backup. Are those any good? ![]()
They are 80/20 Light gauge bronze.
I use Elixir Nanoweb light gauge strings on all my acoustics and I’ve never had one break. Whoever told you that they break is mistaken. There are 30 brands of acoustic strings on the market and they’re all good although you might like some more than others. Martin SPs are fine as are D’Addario strings, GHS, and Dean Markley, to name a few.
